In 1888, Methodist preaching in this area began in a private home.
In 1889 The Society of Houcks, later to be McMichaels Methodist Episcopal Church was organized with over 25 members.
Farmer John Houck sold a parcel of ground to the Church for $30.
The cornerstone was laid on Sunday, November 17th, 1989 at 3:00 PM.
In 1989, the 100th anniversary of the church was celebrated.
More than a century old and still working for the community and Jesus.
Our Vision: is summed up in the words "Reaching out for Jesus". This is a two-fold mission. McMichaels is a Church that Reaches Out to the community in the name of Jesus to spread the 'Good News' of His teachings and principals. Our mission is to spread the Love of Christ and teach of his forgiveness.
We are also a Church that Reaches Out within our own group and with others to learn more about the Teachings of Christ and the impact on our daily lives.
We offer support and encouragement to all our congregation through various programs, meetings and fellowship gatherings. We care about our people and those throughout the community.
120th Anniversary - Will be coming up in the year 2008 with some exciting worship programs and services in celebration of 120 years.
We maintain Children's Programs, Youth Programs, Family Fellowship Nights, Bible study, and much more including a United Methodist Mens and Friends group.
